How to Create an Email Signature in Yahoo Mail

Yahoo Mail is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, yet most users never set up a professional email signature. A well-crafted signature adds your name, title, and contact details to every email automatically — making you look polished and saving you time.

How to Add a Signature in Yahoo Mail on Desktop

Setting up your signature in Yahoo Mail’s web interface takes less than two minutes. Here’s how:

  1. Go to mail.yahoo.com and sign in to your account.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Select More Settings from the dropdown.
  4. In the left sidebar, click Writing email.
  5. Scroll down to the Signature section.
  6. Click the toggle next to your email address to turn the signature on.
  7. Type or paste your signature in the text editor that appears.
  8. Use the formatting toolbar to add bold, italics, links, or images.
  9. Your changes are saved automatically — no save button needed.

Pro tip: Yahoo Mail supports one signature per email account on desktop. If you have multiple accounts added to Yahoo Mail, you can set a different signature for each one.

How to Add a Signature in the Yahoo Mail App

Signatures in the Yahoo Mail app are separate from your desktop signature, so you’ll need to set them up independently.

iOS (iPhone and iPad):

  1. Open the Yahoo Mail app on your device.
  2. Tap your Profile icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear).
  4. Tap Signatures under the General section.
  5. Toggle Include signature in new messages to ON.
  6. Tap below your email address and type your signature.
  7. Tap the back arrow to save.

Android:

  1. Open the Yahoo Mail app on your Android device.
  2. Tap your Profile icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Signatures under General.
  5. Toggle on Include signature in new messages.
  6. Tap the text field and enter your signature.
  7. Tap the back arrow to save.

Note: You can also tap Customise for each account if you have multiple email accounts in the app and want different signatures for each.

How to Add an HTML Signature with a Logo in Yahoo Mail

Yahoo Mail’s built-in editor supports rich text formatting, but for a fully branded signature with a logo, clickable social icons, or a banner image, you’ll want to use an HTML signature.

Here’s the best way to do it:

  1. Create your signature using a professional generator like Signature Hound. This ensures your logo is hosted on a secure CDN (not embedded as an attachment) and your HTML is optimised for all email clients.
  2. Open your signature in a browser and select all (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A), then copy it (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C).
  3. In Yahoo Mail, go to Settings > More Settings > Writing email > Signature and enable your signature.
  4. Click into the signature editor and paste your copied signature (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V). Yahoo Mail will render the HTML automatically.
  5. Compose a new email to preview how the signature looks before sending.

Important: Avoid uploading images directly from your computer into the Yahoo Mail signature editor. Images uploaded this way are often embedded as attachments, which means recipients may see them as file attachments rather than inline images. Always use a hosted image URL instead.

Common Yahoo Mail Signature Issues

Here are the most frequent problems users run into, and how to fix them:

  • Signature not appearing on sent emails: Check that the toggle in Settings > More Settings > Writing email is switched ON for the correct account. Also make sure you’re composing from the full Yahoo Mail web interface, not a third-party client.
  • Formatting looks broken when received: Different email clients render HTML differently. Stick to simple inline CSS styles and standard fonts (Arial, Helvetica, Georgia). Avoid complex table layouts or CSS classes.
  • Logo showing as an attachment: This happens when images are embedded directly from your computer. Use a hosted image URL (e.g., from Signature Hound’s CDN) to ensure the logo displays inline.
  • Mobile signature is different from desktop: This is by design — Yahoo Mail treats desktop and mobile signatures separately. You’ll need to set up both independently.
  • Signature not showing on replies: Yahoo Mail may not automatically add your signature to replies and forwards. Check your settings for a “Add signature to replies and forwards” option and enable it if needed.
